On Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at the Institute for Political Studies, Belgrade, a scientific conference "KOŠARE - 25 years later" was held, which was organized in cooperation with the Center for Security Studies and the Center for Kosovo and Metohija of the Institute for Political Studies, headed by the heads of the centers, Dr. Marija Đorić and Dr. Aleksandra Mirović Janković. This scientific conference is dedicated to marking the 25th anniversary of the Battle of Košare.
Welcoming remarks were delivered by Dr. Miša Stojadinović, Director of the Institute for Political Studies, and the representative of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Serbia, Colonel Dr. Đorđe Kalanj (Head of the Administration for Tradition, Standards and Veterans). The meeting was attended by members of the Institute for Political Studies, the Ministry of Defense, the University of Defense (Military Academy, Institute for Strategic Research, National Defense School "Vojvoda Radomir Putnik") and the Institute for International Politics and Economy.
During the meeting, the military, political and social aspects of the Battle of Kosare were discussed, as well as the importance of remembering the heroism and sacrifices of members of the Yugoslav Army who resisted the attacks of significantly superior NATO forces, as well as the role of this battle in shaping national consciousness and identity. The closing remarks at the end of the meeting were delivered by Dr. Marija Đorić, Assistant Director for Scientific Research and one of the organizers of the meeting.
