Dr. Strahinja Obrenović is a Research Assistant and member of the Center for Security Studies at the Institute for Political Studies. He completed his basic academic studies in International Politics at the Faculty of Political Science of the University of Belgrade as a student of the generation. At the same faculty, he completed his master's academic studies as the first in the International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights Law module, with an average grade of 10. He completed his doctoral academic studies in 2024 by defending his doctoral dissertation on the topic "The importance of competition in the procedure for granting exemptions to new gas infrastructure: the case of the OPAL gas pipeline" at the Faculty of Political Science with a grade of 10, as the first in the generation of International and European Studies.

Thanks to the exceptional results in his master's studies, he had the opportunity to intern in the Negotiation Team for Accession of the Republic of Serbia to the European Union, in the Government of the Republic of Serbia. He was a scholarship recipient of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, as well as a scholarship recipient of the Fund for Young Talents "Dositeja" of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Serbia for the best students in the Republic of Serbia. During his doctoral studies, he was first employed as a researcher at the Institute for European Studies in Belgrade, and then as an Teaching Associate at the University of Belgrade - Faculty of Political Science. Since 2021, he has been an Assistant at the Faculty of Political Science in the Department of International Studies. He is the laureate of several awards and recognitions at his undergraduate and master's studies, both at his home faculty and at the University of Belgrade level - Student Generation Charter at the undergraduate academic studies of international politics at the Faculty of Political Science of the University of Belgrade, Dr. Predrag Simić award, Svetlana Lana award Adamović, as well as the third prize in the competition for the best student essay at the University of Belgrade level, which was awarded by the Faculty of Philology of the University of Belgrade and the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Belgrade.

During his doctoral studies, he had the opportunity to improve at the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Rijeka through the Erasmus+ mobility program, as well as at the Florence School of Regulation in the field of energy - Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies, European University Institute. He is also the recipient of the annual scholarship of the School of Regulation in Florence (FSR Annual Scholarship) for 2023. He participated in the First World Energy Justice Congress in the French Republic in 2023, as well as in the Second World Energy Justice Congress in the Kingdom of Morocco in 2024.

He is the secretary of the scientific journal The Policy of National Security, published by the Institute for Political Studies in Belgrade, and a member of the advisory academic board for the scientific journal Financial Law Working Papers at the Faculty of Law and Administration of Marija Sklodovska Curie University in Lublin.

He participated in prestigious scientific conferences in the country and abroad. His areas of particular interest are energy law and energy policy in Europe.
