Igor Janev, Principal Research Fellow at the Institute for Political Studies, was born in 1964. He completed the primary and secondary school in Belgrade and graduated from the University of Belgrade in September 1987. He enrolled at the Faculty of Political Sciences in Belgrade in 1987 and defended the master's thesis entitled "Cooperation between Yugoslavia with UNESCO" in 1991. The doctoral thesis "The Economic Organizations of the United Nations" proposed to the Faculty of Law in Skopje in September 1994 (in the area of juridical-political science) was successfully defended in September 1994. In period from September 1994 to June 1995, Igor Janev was a visiting scholar in postdoctoral studies for international politics in the United States, at the Department for Government and Foreign Affairs at the University of Virginia. From June 1995 to September 1995, Igor Janev was a Visiting Researcher at the Georgetown University, Washington D.C. (USA), School of Foreign Service (Institute for Diplomacy). Between October 1995 and June 1996, he completed his research in the field of International Public Law at the Tufts University, Medford, Massachusetts (USA), Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. In October 2000, Igor Janev was appointed on the Scientific Associate position by a decision from the Commission of the Ministry of Science of the Republic of Serbia. Igor Janev reached the Senior Scientific Associate title in December 2005, while he received the title Scientific Counselor based on the decision from the Ministry of Science on December 28, 2009. He is a member of the American Society for International Law and a member of the UN Academic Council (since 1995). He is a member of the New York Academy of Sciences (since 2004). Igor Janev is an author of over 115 scientific papers (mostly in international journals), as well as an author of 25 books and monographs in the areas ofinternational law, international relations and foreign policy (please check ORCID, https://orcid.org/0000- 0003-1786-0843). Igor Janev was a Special Advisor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Macedonia 2001-2002, which is in the rank of the State Advisor at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (equivalent with the Ambassador in the Ministry). During 2002, he was a Special Advisor to the President of Republic of Macedonia (in the Rank of the State Advisor in the Cabinet of the President of the Republic of Macedonia). He was a member of the Governing Board of the Institute for Political Studies in Belgrade from 2009-2010.
